Nimue - August 25
There was also a goblin pilfering the bodies. She said her name was Fantasia, and she was dressed like a dragon. That... was a choice. Fantasia was “checking for traps” in a way that seemed more likely to set one off, when I noticed zombies coming down the hallway. Weird zombies wearing white tunics, humming, and carrying a palanquin. I hissed at Bancroft to get in the room and we shut the door, hoping they would just march on by. They opened the door to the east, and shut it again. I don't want to know. Bancroft apparently did, because he opened the door, revealing the zombies left clay jar sitting in the hallway. Obviously they saw us, and left us a present. One that'll probably kill us.
Fantasia picked up the jar, and then we searched the room. Anister found 45 gold in one burial alcove. We put Bilbarr and Chick Magnet in burial alcoves. The alcoves are there, we might as well use them. Anister checked back down the hall, and saw that a bricked up door had been busted open, revealing an empty small room. Bancroft had the bright idea to go through the door through the east. Where the zombies went. Again, complete and utter lack of logic and wisdom. So we went through. Fantasia heard the noise of someone breaking rock with a pickax up ahead. A hallway with a door to the east and a searched burial alcove to the north. Bancroft insisted on searching it again, and of course found nothing.
The door to the east led to a room with a large rubble pile to the side. The door let onto a big room with pillars and a debris pile in the middle. A hallway to the north. The pile looked rummaged through, but Bancroft wanted to double check it. There was snake skin in it, yuck. My torch went out. Bancroft tried to cast light, failed, and I cast it for him with a sigh. Anister cracked the south door open and saw a hallway going south with a broken bricked up alcove and a small burial alcove with black skulls. As we were searching, we heard wings and were attacked by stirges. Two stuck to Anister. I hit one with purple magic missile and Fantasia finished it with an arrow. Bancroft did his tanking duty and killed the second one. I hit the third one with purple magic missile and Bancroft finished it off.
We finished the search and I found coins in some skulls. One skull had hidden worms. I wanted to leave it alone, but no, the phenomenally bad decisions continued. Anister said they weren't looking normal, and suggested Bancroft turn undead, but it failed and he refused to try again. That should have been the end of it, in people with any sense of self-preservation. Anister lit a torch and tried to burn the worms, but the heat made them explode out and move towards him. He whacked them with the torch and did damage. I hit them with purple magic missile, but it did nothing. Fire only, then. Bancroft burned more, but some got under his armor. I don't want to think about what they're doing in there, or how we're going to get them out. This all could have been avoided if the gentlemen would listen to me when I say to leave something alone.
